Harm Reduction Therapy in our community
Harm Reduction Coalition of Lane County
The Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) collaborates with local partners to support harm reduction efforts in Lane County, with a strong emphasis on initiatives aligned with harm reduction therapy. This approach informs the coalition’s focus on meeting the needs of vulnerable populations while promoting public health and safety. The coalition’s communication and meeting schedule is coordinated by the Lane County Health Department and HIV Alliance. Meetings occur in two formats: monthly planning meetings held in January, March, April, June, July, September, October, and December to develop projects addressing community needs, and quarterly networking meetings in February, May, August, and November for sharing updates and resources. Monthly meetings last one hour, while quarterly meetings are two hours.
The Harm Reduction Coalition addresses critical topics like safe equipment distribution, homelessness, sexual health, emergency medical services, and access to basic needs resources. Using principles of harm reduction therapy, the coalition fosters collaboration among organizations to develop innovative solutions for community challenges. These ongoing efforts reflect the coalition’s commitment to improving health outcomes and reducing harm across Lane County.
