Harm Reduction Coalition of Lane County

The Harm Reduction Coalition (HRC) meets monthly to communicate on a harm reduction focus for Lane County. The Lane County Health Department and HIV Alliance coordinate the group’s communication and meeting schedule. There are two styles of meetings held throughout the year: monthly and quarterly. Monthly HRC meetings are for planning projects meant to assist the community and its needs. We are set to meet January, March, April, June, July, September, October, and December for these planning sessions. Quarterly meetings are networking opportunities with agencies in Lane County meant for learning about new programs that are available. These meetings are set to be held in February, May, August, and November. Monthly meetings are 1 hour in length, while Quarterly meetings are 2 hours.

Membership includes engagement with many different agencies and important discussions on broad perspectives surrounding harm reduction. This includes safe equipment, homelessness and shelter, medical and emergency medical, sexual health, and basic needs resources intended to safeguard individuals. These examples only touch on a small part of the many aspects that come with reducing harm to our citizens. We are always looking for more agencies to join our meetings, inspire collaboration, and bring new ideas to the table on how we can better assist Lane County on the subject of harm reduction and the many qualities that surround it.
