Land Acknowledgement

As HIV Alliance covers a large portion of the State of Oregon, we must first center our acknowledgement of land and labor to the first Oregonians, the Indigenous inhabitants of these lands. We honor the nine federally recognized tribes of Oregon, as well as hold space for those tribal nations whose treaties remain unratified by US Congress. These lands have been stewarded by Indigenous people since time immemorial. In 2022, the rate of new HIV diagnoses among AI/AN people was twice the rate experienced by Whites (https://www.ihs.gov/hivaids/stats/). As part of our response to the HIV epidemic, we commit to elevating those groups who have been historically marginalized in our communities.
