Behavioral Health

Behavioral Health Individual Counseling

Our Behavioral Health program expands on our mission to not only support individuals living with HIV/AIDS, but to also provide culturally responsive services to the greater LGBTQIA+ communities.

The program provides individual and family counseling services. We currently have openings for new clients 16 and older with Oregon Health Plan (OHP).

Our Behavioral Health program builds on HIV Alliance’s dedication to advocacy, care, and outreach in LGBTQIA+ communities. HIV Alliance has long worked to build a stronger, healthier LGBTQIA+ community. Our goal is not just to stop the spread of sexually-transmitted infections, but to build community wellness.

We have immediate openings for clients enrolled with Open Card and Trillium CCO. Clients enrolled with other CCOs may need to request prior authorization; please call at 541-556-1409 for more information.

To schedule a new client appointment with one of our counselors, or if you have any questions, please call: 541-556-1409. At this time we are only seeing OHP patients or self-pay.

Peer Support

The Alliance for Community Wellness’s peer support services program responds to the continuing challenges of the substance overdose epidemic and aims to mitigate the negative effects of substance use by actively and proactively engaging people who are at risk of substance overdose but who may not by ready to pursue substance use treatment. Peer services is a proven method of fostering readiness for treatment while reducing harm of ongoing substance use, thus increasing the likelihood of recovery and leading to better overall health outcomes.

Our peer support specialists provide judgement-free harm reduction services, including:

  • Advocating for client needs
  • Linking clients with syringe exchange services, naloxone, safer injection training, and free testing for HIV and Hepatitis C
  • Providing basic needs support, including help with housing, food, and transportation
  • Supporting clients with getting into treatment for substance use disorders, if and when they are ready
  • Providing application assistance for health insurance and other benefits

Language and Culture

The Alliance for Community Wellness is committed to providing culturally and linguistically responsive care. Our client-centered approach focusses on our clients’ individual stories, and we build relationships by recognizing that members of LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, other communities have unique experiences. As part of HIV Alliance, our core values include continuous improvement and collaboration, and we believe strongly in continuing to learn and grow as providers to best understand and respond to cultural and systemic factors that may impact the experiences of our clients’ and counselors.

For those clients whose primary language is not English, and who may have difficulty using English to engage in our services, we offer interpreter services in the language of the client’s choosing as long as the agency providing interpreting services offers the requested language. We will do whatever we can to assist clients in accessing our services in a way that respects each person’s individual language and cultural needs.

Interpreters are provided by contract with Linguava Interpreters. Linguava can provide interpreters onsite, by phone, or by video conferencing.
