HIV Alliance was founded in Eugene, Oregon in 1994 to <\/span>support individuals living with HIV\/AIDS and prevent new HIV infections<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

What We Do & How<\/h2>\n

We provide interventions that are highly evidence based, low barrier, trauma informed, equity oriented, and client centered and which work to directly address social determinants of health. Our approach is grounded in harm reduction, meaning that we \u201cmeet our clients where they are at\u201d and deliver services without judgment or coercion. Our programs are built on core values, including collaboration, empowerment, adaptability and innovation, continuous improvement, and nonjudgement.<\/p>\n

    • Syringe exchange program focused on protecting public safety and community health by reducing the spread of HIV and Hepatitis C due to people sharing syringes.<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Free certified training and naloxone to syringe exchange clients, first responders, and the general public. Naloxone, also known as Narcan, is a life-saving drug that can prevent or reverse an opioid overdose.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Harm reduction approach that seeks to empower individuals, remove barriers to accessing the support that they need, and supply pragmatic approaches to risk reduction in a non-judgmental\/non-coercive way that is compassionate and accepting of any positive change.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Behavioral Health, Eugene Medical Clinic and Supportive Housing<\/h3>\n

      • Behavioral Health program that provides culturally responsive services to individuals living with HIV\/AIDS and the greater LGBTQIA+ communities by providing individual and family counseling services.<\/span><\/li>\n
      • The Eugene Medical clinic offers primary care services, sexual health clinic for STI testing and access to PrEP, Hepatitis C treatment, health focused street outreach services, and medication assisted treatment for opioid use disorder for clients located in Eugene.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Supportive housing program that follows the evidence based \u201chousing first\u201d model by offering housing subsidy and financial assistance combined with wraparound supportive services to individuals who are most at risk due to their housing instability, behavioral health, and\/or substance use.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            HIV Alliance\u2019s Equity Leadership Committee gives space for BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ staff as well as allies to have a voice in shaping our equity priorities and practices.             HIV Alliance began two new programs in the prevention department. The first is a prevention with positive program for our HIV-Positive clients. The second is to develop a Men\u2019s Wellness Network throughout our service area beginning with five counties along the I-5 corridor.<\/span><\/p>\n
