What to Know BEFORE Applying
HIV Alliance’s services are designed around three core principles. We ask all of our volunteers to commit to these principles while volunteering for HIV Alliance. Take a minute to review each of our core principles to make sure HIV Alliance is a good fit for you.
1. Confidentiality
All information about clients is kept confidential. We will have all volunteers sign a copy of our confidentiality policy before becoming volunteers. To read a copy, click here.
2. Client Centered Care
Client Centered Care means letting the client be the driver in their care. To read more on client centered care, click here.
3. Harm Reduction
The philosophy of harm reduction is based on acknowledging that certain behaviors exist and supporting any positive behavior change no matter how small. It is the opposite of an abstinence only approach. For more information on harm reduction philosophy, click here.
How to Apply
To become a volunteer for HIV Alliance, we request that you fill out an application and bring that application to a volunteer orientation. Our upcoming Volunteer Orientations are:
- Tuesday April 23, 6-8pm
- Thursday, May 9, 6-8pm
- Monday, May 20 6-8pm
All volunteer orientations are at our office at 1966 Garden Ave in Eugene. At the orientation, we will give an overview of our agency, the services we provide, and the different roles that are available to volunteers. We will also go over agency policies and procedures as they relate to volunteers.
Additional Trainings
After level I orientation you will be able to start volunteering in roles that do not interact directly with clients. To volunteer in other roles, additional training(s) will be required. E-mail (or see the flow chart in the "Volunteer Opportunities" section of the website) to inquire about additional trainings.
